MPS vertical mill for coal grinding

Gebr. Pfeiffer wins another order in Nepal

Gebr. Pfeiffer (India) Pvt. Ltd., the Indian subsidiary of Gebr. Pfeiffer SE, Kaiserslautern, Germany, has received an order to supply another mill to the Himalayan state of Nepal.

Samrat Cement Company Pvt. Ltd. will build a new kiln line in the Dang region of southern Nepal. The new cement rotary kiln will be supplied by KHD, with the kiln and the calciner being fired with pulverized coal.

KHD has ordered a grinding plant with an MPS 225 BK mill from Gebr. Pfeiffer to produce pulverized coal. The mill with a drive power of 370 kW will grind 35 t/h of coal to a product fineness of 15 % R 90 µm. At the same time, the coal, which may have a feed moisture of up to 10 %, is dried in the mill.

An integrated high-efficiency classifier, type SLS 1800 BK, separates the ground coal into fine product and coarse product, with the latter being returned to the grinding zone for being ground again. This classifier would also allow petroleum coke to be separated to fineness degrees of <1% R 90 µm.

This deal will see Gebr. Pfeiffer (India) Pvt. Ltd. supply not only the main machine, i.e. the mill, but also the equipment of the grinding plant. As to the required ductwork, chutes and other parts, which can be manufactured on site, Gebr. Pfeiffer will provide the manufacturing drawings.

KHD’s order for a Pfeiffer coal mill, order which will be processed by KHD’s Indian subsidiary, Humboldt Wedag India Pvt. Ltd., shows the confidence the customer places in Gebr. Pfeiffer’s technology. This must also be seen against the background that in the past coal mills from other suppliers had been tried out for the cement industry in Nepal. The Indian subsidiaries of Gebr. Pfeiffer and KHD will now act jointly on further projects.

With the award of this order, Gebr. Pfeiffer has been contracted for five mills in Nepal in less than 17 months for the grinding of cement raw material, coal and mixed cements.
