Building refurbishment, KfW 55 ee, CO2 savings
Building refurbishment saves 186 tpa of CO2
Built in the 1970s, our administration building in Kaiserslautern is no longer up to date in terms of energy efficiency after more than 50 years. This will now change thanks to a comprehensive refurbishment of the building, as our motto “Getting it done” applies to all areas.
The measures include insulating the façade and roof, replacing the window fronts, heat recovery and a photovoltaic system. As a result, we achieve energy savings of approx. 800,000 kWh per year, which corresponds to a CO2 saving of approx. 186 tons.
The refurbishment will bring the building up to a KfW 55 ee standard.
The temporary removal of employees from the building has already been completed, office furniture in good condition was donated to charitable institutions on a large scale and the remaining furniture was cleared out at the end of last week.
The actual refurbishment will start soon and will probably take a good year.
