Gebr. Pfeiffer hosts the first bi-annual ready2grind technical panel in Ft. Lauderdale

Gebr. Pfeiffer organized a 3 day event at the Hyatt Regency Pier Sixty-Six in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, USA from December 4 – 6, 2016. The event kicked off with a welcome dinner and live Caribbean music to greet the 70 guests who attended from 11 different countries throughout the world.

The first day of Technical Panel presentations began with a Welcome Address from Dr. Eduard Kulenkamp, Chairman of the Executive Board, Gebr. Pfeiffer SE and an introduction from the Panel Host, Mr. Patrick Heyd, Executive Director – Sales and Project Engineering, Gebr. Pfeiffer SE.

Among the numerous informative presentations were two featuring customer case studies of the Gebr. Pfeiffer MVR Mill in operation. Mr. Juliano Menezes de Melo, Plant Manager, LafargeHolcim Brazil – Barroso Plant, featured the installation and operating results of the MVR 6700 C-6 Case Study of the Barroso Cement Plant of LafargeHolcim Brazil. This installation showcases the largest vertical roller grinding mill in the world. It is driven by a MultiDrive®, THE revolutionary drive concept, which in combination with the Pfeiffer MVR vertical mill enables maximum performance.

Early in the program, the audience also benefitted from the customer case study presented by Mr. James Bachmann, Plant Manager, Lafarge Canada, Inc.- Exshaw Plant and Mr. Reda Anbari, Technical Manager of the Exshaw Plant. This presentation featured the MVR 5000 R-4 operating at the Exshaw Cement Plant in Alberta, Canada. In particular, both customers emphasised that they were convinced by the Pfeiffer MVR mill technology. The audience was inspired by the statements of the two gentlemen, leading to a lively discussion about the outstanding market position of the presented technology.

The main focus of the ready2grind Technical Panel was to inform and educate the audience on all aspects of successful operation and maintenance of Pfeiffer milling technology as well as to introduce the new ready2grind Modular System, offering maximum flexibility thanks to its modular design and allowing quick market entry due to short building times. The world’s first ready2grind with a vertical cement mill will be operational from January 2017. After the largest mill across the globe, this is another technological first from Gebr. Pfeiffer. “Ahead of the game” Pfeiffer puts with unerring instinct innovations into practice.

There were two companies also participating as co-sponsors:

HAVER & BOECKER who gave presentations featuring “Bag Packaging and Palletizing”, presented by Mr. Kevin Rodriguez, Sales Engineer, HAVER & BOECKER and “Silo Storage and Bulk Material Handling Systems” presented by Mr. Ralf Appenzeller, Sales Manager, IBAU HAMBURG.

Redecam provided valuable information through presentations on “The Second Life of a Dedusting System”, presented by Mr. Salvatore Gallo, Sales Director, Redecam USA and “Flue Gas Treatment in Cement Industry - Opex and Capex”, presented by Mr. Fabio Ferrari, Head of Machinery, Redecam Group.

At the conclusion of the ready2grind Technical Panel, the audience divided into smaller discussion groups in order to address more specific questions and conversations related to key topics that were presented throughout the program. Many customers took advantage of the opportunity to address their specific needs and walk away with more valuable ideas for improving productivity and profitability.

Meanwhile, the fifteen spouses who attended were treated to two days of Spouse Program tours, beginning with a day trip to Miami to learn about the Cuban influence and enjoy a walking tour in the famous art district of South Beach. The second day began with a scenic “Millionaires Cruise” of Ft. Lauderdale and a leisure afternoon in the shops and art galleries on Las Olas Blvd.

The social highlight of the event was a formal dinner with live music on the 17th floor Pier Top Ballroom with a revolving, 360° view of Ft. Lauderdale, the Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic Ocean.  

The next ready2grind Technical Panel in the USA is anticipated for December 2018.
